J. Pincus Delmont was northern Nevada’s number one defense attorney, and he knew it. Recently divorced from the Deputy District Attorney, he still enjoyed certain perks of their past relationship. When Pinky was called on to defend a young man accused of murdering his uncle, he tried to dump the potential pro bono client until he discovered the man held the pink-slip to a brand new vehicle.

Richard Page was wrongfully accused of murder. He knew he had very little hope of escaping the death penalty, until Pinky Delmont agreed to take on his case in exchange for his hot new BMW 350i. Richard knew he was innocent, but did Pinky believe him enough to clear his name?

Willow Stone was the Deputy District Attorney for Carson City, Nevada. She was also the favorite ex-wife of Pinky Delmont. It was Willow’s job to make sure that Richard Page paid for his crimes, but was she after Richard or was it really Pinky she wanted to best?

Bear Zabarte owed Pinky his life. Pinky had saved him from a murder charge and when Pinky found that Bear could not pay his exorbitant retainer, he put Bear to work investigating for him. Would Bear be able to find the evidence that cleared Richard in time? Did he even care if he did, or was he just working off his debt?

Flo was Bear’s stacked but not quite all-there girlfriend. What she had going for her in body, she lacked in brains, or so everyone thought. There was more to Flo than met the eye, and lucky for Richard, everyone soon found that out.

Julie Campbell was Richard’s girlfriend. She was also a throwback to the seventies and hooked on marijuana. She was not going to be much help in Pinky’s opinion. If Richard’s defense rested on Julie’s help, would he ever be set free?

Mabel was Pinky’s trusted and efficient secretary. She never took a vacation and seemed to live to work for Pinky. When she took an unexpected leave of absence, Pinky had to wonder if she had been frightened off.

Telling the tale with tongue firmly in cheek, Ken Dalton, author of The Bloody Birthright, from Different Drummer Press (www.kendalton.com) weaves a story of intrigue, murder and comedy with the deftness of a master craftsman. Dalton’s colloquialisms and distinct characterizations made The Bloody Birthright a fast and enjoyable read. From the jailhouse of Carson City to the Tuscan countryside, this rollercoaster adventure keeps the reader guessing and wanting to race to the end just to see who really did it. Quick paced, with snappy dialogue and an intriguing twist, anyone interested in mysteries, a multi-million dollar inheritance, and murder will be left waiting on the edge of their seat for the next Pinky and the Bear mystery.
